In light of the recent events, Senator Ted Cruz made a public statement on Thursday about his thoughts on American statues and monuments. Over the past week there has been ongoing debates as to whether “controversial” statues/monuments should remain on display or be taken down.
Liberals and leftist media have been working hard to try to erase American history, while the more logical population agrees that the monuments will always have a place in our country. They represent our culture and our history – those things cannot be erased from the public eye.
Senator Cruz agrees with President Trump and the majority of the country: there is NO need to take these statues down.
“I don’t think we should go through and simply try to erase from history prior chapters, even if they were wrong.”
Cruz went on to accuse the liberal protesters of relentlessly trying to “sanitize history.”
On Saturday, after the violence, Cruz also released a statement condemning the misconduct, but also encouraging America to recognize everyone’s freedom of speech..
“The First Amendment protects the rights of all Americans to speak their minds peaceably, but violence, brutality, and murder have no place in a civilized society.”
Both Cruz and Trump are on the RIGHT side of history. They recognize that America’s past play an important role in its future. These statues need to stay up to preserve our rich culture and honor our country’s history.
